Children Sun Book

Sun Books works in dozens of schools and libraries in the Sub Saharan Region in Africa. Our project brought digital resources to schools and reading workshops to Kenya. Our goal is to increase literacy learning outcomes in the most underprivileged public schools, aiming to help approximately 500 children in grades 1 to 3, every year.  Lamek Odero, the CEO and Founder of Resurge Children East Africa is our local collaborator. Together, we train teachers to use the both the hardware and software of Sun Books, while also hosting reading and writing workshops to foster literacy skills.

57.88% of the population is between 15-64, which inherently directs attention to this group as they represent the majority of citizens in Kenya. Furthermore, 39.78% of the population is under 14. These statistics reflect the younger population inhabiting Kenya, and therefore the country should focus on educating the youth to lead them in the direction of a brighter future. Sun Books established a project in Kenya with the hopes to help educate the younger generations and bring them opportunities that can lead them to a prosperous life through literacy.

“With Sun Books, we are motivated to be able to access a lot of appropriate learning materials. Use of Sunbooks is an engaging way to make children gain interest in learning, and we are glad it will enhance our collaboration.   Thanks so much for supporting and providing learning materials to children who need them most at Magadi Primary.” – Lamek Odero.
